by Uel Ceballos, circa 2005
Long hooked nose and masculine features.
They saw me glamorous, gave high price
for my possessions.
Young, enchanting
charistmatic and seductive.
I ruled over the Egypt land
bearing the veins run by King Ptolemy's
blood.
Heavy garland shimmering over me,
shrewdly with envious sovereignty.
They stripped me, I lost
my crown and was banished from my
own land.
Caesar came then. He marched and
seized
the gift of Osiris.
I breathed in the rug until he saw me
there!
Caesar the emperor
of momentous, historical empire
was enthralled by the last Queen's
sting...
We shared a son
but fate betrayed him and stabbed him
to death.
I found myself another man.
Having myself clad in Venus gown,
I met Mark in Tarsus.
Once again
I took advantage of my irresistible charm.
Though I wasn't his only woman
because I shared him with the highness
half-blood.
This I would say, his soul was mine.
Gray and red clouds drifted in the sky.
Mark died because of me
and my strength was badly empowered.
Here now in my golden bed I have finished a letter.
Carrying the burden of imperious history
I want to rest in undisturbed peace.
I hope Octavian, the Highness
bury me in my husband's tomb.
No matter what, he must do so the
Last Queen's plea.
Oh please, where's the basket of figs!
I'm ready for the bites of deadly asp!
