LET'S DO THE COFFEE TALK!

A self confessed coffee addict, I really find it hard to go on with the day without having a cup or two. It all started way back to college when I joined a theater group. Free coffee was flooding every rehearsals and productions, and while I was waiting for my next act, you would always find me by the corner where coffee was being served. Also by then, my thesis mates and I found our haven in coffee whenever the needs to soothe our battered minds had called for actions.  But what have really put coffee closer to my heart were the good talks between friends and loved ones while sitting together over a cup of coffee, time usually passed by unnoticed; and that what made coffee a great stress reliever.

Did you know that the coffee was first brought here to Philippines by a Franciscan friar? The Philippines then became a top exporter of coffee toward the end of the era of the Spanish colonization. As the coffee cultivation continuously increased in the country, it eventually made its way as the popular beverage now among the Filipino population.

I’m just one of the thousands who claimed themselves addictive to coffee. Coffee contained substance called caffeine and according to one report, researchers concluded that as little as small cup of coffee could already produced caffeine addiction. In general, the more intake of caffeine, the more severe withdrawal symptoms will be, with some people going under depressions or experiencing nausea, vomiting and muscle ache. All we have got to do then coffee addicts is to realize of course that caffeine is drug and we should all accord it respect as a drug. We must know what it does to us when we take it, and what it does when we cease to take it, we should all be responsible about making an adult decision about that.(1)

The aroma of coffee never fails to stimulate ones senses, much more after sipping that the true effects of the coffee kick in. On the brighter side, coffee, according to studies have list of positive effects. It can boost the person’s alertness as it helps improves one’s performance and concentration. (2) It has been a normal routine that people drink coffee in the morning to start the day or in the evening to go through an overnight work. A research also showed that women who drank a moderate 1 to 3 cups of coffee per day were 24 percent less likely to have cardiovascular disease as compared to women who drank no coffee. (3) The chances of developing Parkinson's disease in men is lessen by other types of coffee even if doctors aren't yet able to determine the cause of this disease.(2)

Coffee indeed has good effects. As studies stated, it has been known also to prevent certain diseases. Only that we should have to keep in mind, that everything that is too much, is no good at all. Take only the right amount that you need, so you can enjoy a happy, easy going life.

Enjoy your coffee and feel the good times!
